Como Fazemos Alguma Coisa é Como Fazemos Todas as Coisas

Recentemente fui honrado com o pedido para falar a um grupo de homens de negócios sobre o tema “Como fazemos uma coisa é como fazemos todas as coisas”. Esta ideia está intimamente ligada a integridade. A palavra “integridade” vem da mesma raiz de “todo”, que significa “um” e “integrar” – significando “inteireza”.  

O pensamento é que podemos observar uma área de nossa vida – ou de outra pessoa com esse propósito – e transferir a observação igualmente para outras áreas. Por exemplo, uma pessoa que se veste impecavelmente provavelmente tem um carro e uma casa limpos. Uma pessoa que se oferece para pagar uma fatura em dinheiro por pensar que essa seria uma maneira da empresa evitar relatar a receita jamais seria alguém que eu consideraria para ser sócio da minha empresa. Uma pessoa com talento artístico quase que com certeza possui um mobiliário coordenado e paredes pintadas com cores interessantes. Basicamente, isso se dá porque a forma como fazemos alguma coisa é a forma como fazemos todas as coisas. 

Empregadores acham isso revelador quando levam um potencial empregado para almoçar. Eles fazem com que o candidato dirija para ver em que condições está o seu carro e depois observam como ele trata as pessoas que o servem. Eles entendem que os indivíduos não irão tratar seus clientes melhor do que tratam os funcionários de um restaurante – e não manterão o equipamento da companhia melhor do que mantém seu próprio carro. Estes são bons testes porque a forma como fazemos uma coisa é a forma como fazemos todas as coisas. 

Nós também podemos olhar para as empresas através da mesma lente.  Se uma empresa trata seus funcionários mal, podemos esperar que tenha uma atitude similar para com seus clientes. Por outro lado, se uma empresa geralmente conta com empregados que já estão ali por 20 ou 30 anos, temos razões para crer que se trata de um bom lugar para trabalhar – e assim, também é uma boa companhia com quem manter negócios. Eu não confiaria em um encanador ou eletricista que dirigisse um veículo mal conservado e todo marcado por batidas. 

Nós podemos usar este princípio para examinar a nós mesmos. Quais maus hábitos eu tenho que extravasam para outras áreas da minha vida?  Inversamente, podemos analisar as coisas que apreciamos ou aquelas em que somos habilidosos para ver que tipo de trabalho é mais adequado para nós. Se realmente gostamos de fazer orçamentos e manter em dia nossas finanças pessoais, provavelmente seríamos um bom planejador financeiro, contador ou tributarista. Se não gostamos de lidar com dinheiro, não seria sábio nos candidatarmos para trabalhar em um banco.  Mas, o que a Bíblia tem a dizer sobre isso?  

Quem somos por dentro transparece através do que somos por fora.  Algumas pessoas tentam enganar as outras, aparentando o que não traduz o que verdadeiramente são. Mas Deus nos pede contas por aquilo que somos e o que fazemos. “Todos os caminhos do homem lhe parecem puros, mas o Senhor avalia o espírito.” (Provérbios 16:2). “Todos os caminhos do homem lhe parecem justos, mas o Senhor pesa o coração.” (Provérbios 21:2).  

Nossa fé é revelada através de nossas ações.  Uma coisa é dizer que cremos em Deus, mas outra coisa bem diferente é demonstrar isso pela maneira como nos conduzimos no trabalho. “Pois nós somos cooperadores de Deus; vocês são lavoura de Deus e edifício de Deus.” (I Coríntios 3:9). “Procure apresentar-se a Deus aprovado, como obreiro que não tem do que se envergonhar…” (II Timóteo 2:15).  

Como fazemos alguma coisa é como fazemos todas as coisas.  Uma medida para a hipocrisia é afirmarmos que somos ou cremos em uma coisa contrária àquilo que genuinamente somos ou cremos. Não podemos julgar sempre pela aparência exterior, mas, no final, o verdadeiro “eu” virá à tona. “Porque, como imagina em sua alma, assim ele é…” (Provérbios 23:7).  “Assim como a água reflete o rosto, o coração reflete quem somos nós.” (Provérbios 27:19).
