Cientistas propõem a construção de uma réplica digital da Terra. O objetivo é auxiliar os governantes na tomada de decisões em um preparativo para eventos climáticos extremos.

Batizada de Destination Earth, ou Destino Terra, a iniciativa irá começar ainda em 2021 e vai durar 10 anos.

O modelo digital do nosso planeta será usado para mapear as mudanças climáticas da forma mais precisa possível, no espaço e no tempo.

A réplica da Terra vai servir como um sistema de informação para desenvolver e testar cenários que mostrem formas de desenvolvimento sustentável, além de fornecer maior embasamento a políticas governamentais.

A proposta foi publicada em um artigo nesta semana por cientistas da União Europeia e do Instituto Federal de Tecnologia da Suíça em Zurich.
