Intel investe R$ 2,7 milhões em projetos de inovação do InCor

A Intel, por meio da Iniciativa Tecnológica RISE da Intel (IRTI), destinou US$ 500 mil (R$ 2,7 milhões na conversão direta) em dois projetos encabeçados pelo Instituto do Coração (InCor), do Hospital das Clínicas da Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de São Paulo (FMUSP).

O aporte faz parte de uma iniciativa mais ampla e global da empresa, que visa destinar US$ 20 milhões a ações de saúde, educação e recuperação econômica, por meio de novos fluxos de trabalho voltados à igualdade social e aos direitos humanos, acessibilidade e ação climática.

O primeiro dos projetos brasileiros que receberam recursos focou em telemedicina, mais precisamente no centro que abriga a TeleUTI InCor.

O programa utiliza a tecnologia de medicina à distância para capacitação e treinamento no manejo do paciente com síndrome respiratória aguda e engloba, até o momento, 21 hospitais públicos do estado de São Paulo.

Cerca de 80% do atendimento do InCor é feito para pacientes beneficiados pelo Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS), muitos deles vindos de diversas localidades do País.

Por meio da central TeleUTI, o hospital consegue também obter uma segunda opinião médica em clínicas e hospitais brasileiros, bem como atender pacientes em retorno de consultas, ou acompanhamento pós-alta hospitalar e pós-consulta.

O segundo projeto engloba a criação de um banco de dados de pelo menos dois mil pacientes, cujas informações serão usadas por algoritmos de inteligência artificial (IA) com intuito de entender os efeitos do vírus em pessoas que tiveram Covid-19 em estado grave e gravíssimo, mas que conseguiram se recuperar da doença.

Com a análise, será possível entender também o impacto da pandemia sobre pacientes cardiopatas, os quais precisavam de intervenção cirúrgica para tratamento da doença e que tiveram seu procedimento suspenso em função da quarentena.

O valor total da iniciativa em parceria com o InCor foi dividido igualmente entre ambos os projetos do instituto.

Resposta à pandemia

A Iniciativa Tecnológica RISE da Intel é uma evolução da Iniciativa Tecnológica de Resposta à Pandemia (do inglês Pandemic Response Technology Initiative, ou PRTI), lançada ano passado pela companhia de tecnologia. O principal objetivo era destinar recursos para auxiliar no combate ao impacto causado pelo coronavírus.

À época, com a criação do PRTI, a empresa chegou a destinar US$ 50 milhões a diferentes ações globais.

Agora, com novo aporte de US$ 20 milhões, a Intel quer ampliar os esforços e tirar o foco concentrado anteriormente mas ações de resposta à pandemia, criando uma estrutura de apoio mais ampla para o ecossistema.

De acordo com a empresa, qualquer cliente ou parceiro com relacionamento existente com a Intel – brasileiro ou não -, pode ser elegível para se beneficiar do novo financiamento.

Também como parte do novo esforço, a Intel pretende ampliar parcerias com outras empresas do setor de tecnologia, bem como governos, ONGs e formuladores de políticas.

Além dos projetos no Brasil, a Intel também visa destinar o investimento de US$ 20 milhões do IRTI para ações globais.

Até o momento, a iniciativa endereça 230 projetos nas áreas de saúde e ciências da vida, educação e recuperação econômica globalmente.

Dentre os países contemplados, além do Brasil, estão: África do Sul, Alemanha, Argentina, Austrália, Canadá, China, Coreia do Sul, Espanha, Estados Unidos, França, Filipinas, Índia, Indonésia, Irlanda, Israel, Itália, Japão, Luxemburgo, Malásia, Marrocos, México, Moçambique, Nova Zelândia, Noruega, Quênia, Reino Unido, Rússia, Senegal, Singapura, Suíça, Tailândia, Taiwan, Turquia e Vietnã.
