Os Generosos Benefícios do Quebrantamento

No mundo empresarial e profissional admiramos líderes fortes e ousados. Ironicamente, quebrantamento é uma qualidade que geralmente ajuda a moldar o caráter de líderes fortes – pessoas que lutaram em meio a grande adversidade, fracasso e desencorajamento, mas perseveraram para chegar do outro lado como indivíduos mais resilientes e mais humildes. Por que quebrantamento é um “ativo” assim tão vantajoso? Porque ele ajuda homens e mulheres a liderar com compaixão, sensibilidade e compreensão. Eles percebem a sua própria fraqueza e limitações, o que os habilita a aprender como confiar e contar com os membros da equipe que reuniram ao seu redor.

Durante meus primeiros anos como editor de jornal de uma pequena comunidade, eu era essencialmente uma banda de um homem só, executando a maior parte da redação e reportagem, fotografia, editando e projetando cada edição. Eu me reportava a um editor, mas fazia a maior parte da tarefa editorial eu mesmo, inclusive a tomada de decisões. Era uma tarefa cansativa, geralmente desanimadora. Como resultado, cometi mais erros do que deveria. 

Mais adiante em minha carreira jornalística, eu contava com uma equipe editorial completa e era capaz de contar com as respectivas habilidades e experiência de repórteres e editores, delegando responsabilidades a eles. Era um grande alívio colaborar com outras pessoas e compartilhar ideias para criar o melhor produto possível.  

Durante grande parte de seu reinado, o rei Davi de Israel também trabalhou sozinho. Seu povo o tinha em alta estima, lembrando de suas muitas proezas em tempos de guerra. Ele tinha conselheiros, mas geralmente confiava em seu próprio julgamento – às vezes, para seu próprio prejuízo. Seu sucesso, ao que parece, subiu-lhe à cabeça. 

Em II Samuel 11, encontramos Davi que permanecera em Jerusalém, enquanto seu exército e seus líderes militares haviam partido para a guerra. Ele viu uma mulher deslumbrante, Bate-Seba, tomando banho em um terraço próximo, e pensou que um rei como ele tinha o régio direito de satisfazer seu desejo sexual por ela, o que levou a uma série de consequências terríveis.  

Somente quando mais tarde foi confrontado pelo profeta Natã é que Davi confessou sua transgressão e se voltou para Deus buscando perdão. Do arrependimento de Davi surgiram as poderosas palavras iniciais no Salmo  em que ele abertamente reconhece seu erro e pede que o Senhor o restaure. 

Depois de orar “… por Tua grande compaixão apaga as minhas transgressões. Lava-me de toda a minha culpa e purifica-me do meu pecado.” (Salmos 51:1-2), Davi fez um pungente pedido: “Cria em mim um coração puro, ó Deus, e renova dentro de mim um espírito estável. Não me expulses da Tua presença, nem tires de mim o Teu Santo Espírito. Devolve-me a alegria da Tua salvação e sustenta-me com um espírito pronto a obedecer.” (Salmos 51:10-12).  

Davi concluiu: “Os sacrifícios que agradam a Deus são um espírito quebrantado; um coração quebrantado e contrito, ó Deus, não desprezarás.” (Salmos 51:17).  Em nosso trabalho para o Senhor, nosso coração quebrantado e contrito também pode ser agradável a Ele. E como resultado disso, o nosso coração pode tornar-nos líderes melhores e mais eficazes.

1.  Quais as qualidades que você acha importantes para ser um líder eficiente?

2.  Por que o quebrantamento parece ser uma característica improvável quando se considera se uma pessoa está qualificada para liderar?

3.  Como você define quebrantamento (fraqueza) relacionando-o ao desenvolvimento do caráter de uma pessoa? Você já conheceu algum líder que foi realmente quebrantado pelas experiências e lutas da vida, e, contudo, aparentava ser forte por causa delas? Descreva resumidamente essa pessoa.

4.  Veja a oração em Salmos 51:10-12 novamente. Tente expressá-la com suas próprias palavras. Em sua opinião, o que significa fazer com que Deus crie um “coração puro” em alguém e “renove um espírito estável” nessa pessoa? Você acredita que o quebrantamento tem um papel importante na relação de alguém com o Senhor? Por quê?
