Youtuber constrói carro elétrico com menos de US$ 3 mil

Em outubro deste ano, o youtuber norte-americano Rich Benoit iniciou um projeto para converter um BMW Mini em um veículo elétrico. Para isso, ele estipulou um orçamento de US$ 5 mil para realizar as adaptações no modelo encontrado em um ferro-velho.

Surpreendentemente, Benoit conseguiu realizar a “reciclagem” completa com um valor muito menor do que o esperado. Ao vender diversas peças originais do carro, ele conseguiu fazer uma grande economia e gastou apenas US$ 2.815 mil no processo.

Para converter o antigo Mini em um carro totalmente elétrico, Benoit fez diversas modificações no veículo. Por exemplo, ele retirou os bancos traseiros e instalou uma bateria extra do Chevrolet Volt.

No caso, a decisão também está relacionada com a estabilidade do carro. Como explica o especialista em modificações, sem a segunda bateria para fazer contrapeso na parte de trás, o modelo poderia capotar caso sofresse uma colisão traseira.

Ao manter o câmbio original do Mini, o youtuber teve que se adaptar ao torque do motor elétrico. Diferente dos modelos a gasolina, em que os motoristas usam a segunda marcha para ganhar velocidade, isso acontece com a primeira marcha nos elétricos.
