Pânico ou Paz – A Escolha é Nossa

O que nós vemos determina o que somos. O que nós vemos também tende a ditar como nos sentimos.

Desde o início do ano temos vivido sob circunstâncias sem precedentes, extremamente turbulentas. Se você já viu tempos de grandes problemas físicos, econômicos e políticos, provavelmente ficou ansioso, retraído, reprimido e, talvez, buscando maneiras de curar o seu sofrimento.

Depois de ouvir notícias inexoráveis que essencialmente insistem em anunciar “O mundo está acabando! O mundo está acabando!”, começamos a pensar que talvez elas sejam certas. Bombardeados por mensagens de destruição e ruína, passamos a ver um mundo de problemas complexos e insolúveis – e começamos a ver nossa própria vida, em grande parte, da mesma maneira.

Essa, porém, não é a nossa única opção. Também existe a opção de ver o mundo – e nossa vida de um modo geral – através dos olhos confiantes e inabaláveis da fé. Como adverte II Coríntios 5:7, “Porque vivemos por fé, e não pelo que vemos.”

Se cremos e confiamos que Deus, nosso Pai Celestial é soberano, e está totalmente no controle com um plano perfeito – mesmo quando tudo ao nosso redor parece estar num caos absoluto – passamos a ver esses desafios presentes de forma bem diferente. Podemos então ver as oportunidades – oportunidades camufladas – para crescer na fé e compartilhar o Seu amor, esperança, alegria, paz e recursos com os outros.

Mas esses tempos têm sido dolorosos, cheios de estresse, ansiedade e, para alguns de nós, perdas genuínas. Como podemos evitar ver a escuridão e a desesperança que nos pressionam de todos os lados? Porque, como eu e muitas pessoas que conheço descobrimos, o sofrimento é um grande mestre – possivelmente o maior que podemos ter na vida.

A realidade é que as pessoas têm a inclinação de não mudar, a menos que haja sofrimento significativo. Elas precisam ser forçadas, geralmente depois de muita resistência, para fora do lugar em que se sentem confortáveis com o que é conhecido e familiar. Quando isso acontece, elas têm a revelação de que andaram “apostando no cavalo errado”, por assim dizer. Uma vez tendo compreendido isto, elas se tornam dispostas a considerar a mudança.

Quem você conhece que está se sentindo pressionado pelos eventos atuais, que se deixou enganar pelo pânico e histeria geral? Talvez isso descreva você mesmo, se tudo o que você consegue ver são os problemas que lhe deixam perplexo e que parecem estar além de qualquer solução. Se este for o caso, você precisa mudar o seu foco. “Assim, fixamos os olhos, não naquilo que se vê, mas no que não se vê, pois o que se vê é transitório, mas o que não se vê é eterno.” (II Coríntios 4:18).

Se você tem obtido sucesso em não olhar para os problemas e, ao invés disso, concentrar seu foco nas promessas de Deus, esse é o momento perfeito de compartilhar isso com outras pessoas. Busque pela oportunidade de fazer perguntas e ir mais fundo nos relacionamentos com as pessoas – amigos, colegas de trabalho, até mesmo seu chefe – porque muitas pessoas estão temerosas. Sem fé, elas não podem começar a ver quanto bem pode surgir de tempos difíceis.

Lembre-se disso: Deus não desperdiça o sofrimento. E dadas as circunstâncias que estamos atravessando, temos a oportunidade ímpar de contar aos outros acerca da Sua verdade que muda nossa vida. Há a parte de Deus, que é trazer luz e dissipar as trevas. E nós temos a nossa parte, que é sermos Seus representantes, Seus embaixadores para comunicar Sua mensagem eterna. Não podemos fazer a parte de Deus. E o Senhor não vai fazer a nossa.
