Internautas descobrem mensagem secreta no paraquedas do Perseverance

Programadores adoram esconder mensagens secretas e referências, os chamados “easter eggs” (literalmente “ovos de páscoa“) em seu software. E os engenheiros da Nasa não são muito diferentes: analisando vídeos e imagens enviados pelo rover Perseverance durante e após seu pouso, internautas já desvendaram alguns segredinhos escondidos pela agência para o deleite dos fãs.

Quem “deu a dica” de que havia algo escondido nas imagens foi Allan Chen, líder da equipe de reentrada, descida e pouso do Perseverance, durante uma conferência de imprensa nesta segunda-feira (22). “Além de possibilitar ciência incrível, esperamos que os esforços de nossa equipe de engenharia possam inspirar os outros”, disse ele.

“Por isso, às vezes deixamos mensagens em nosso trabalho para que outros as encontrem. Convidamos todos vocês a tentar e mostrar seus resultados”, disse. O desafio não só foi aceito, como o segredo foi revelado em menos de seis horas.

Notem que o padrão no paraquedas é formado por quatro círculos concêntricos, com painéis em vermelho ou branco. O círculo mais externo traz as coordenadas do Laboratório de Propulsão a Jato (JPL) da Nasa, na Califórnia, onde o rover foi construído: 34°11’58” N 118°10’31” W.

Já os três círculos internos trazem a mensagem “Dare Mighty Things” (algo como “Atreva-se a Pensar Grande”), lema da equipe do Perseverance. A solução do enigma foi confirmada por Adam Steltzner, engenheiro-chefe do rover, via Twitter.

Este não é o único easter egg no Perseverance: uma das muitas imagens enviadas pelo rover mostra uma placa com cinco pequenas figuras alinhadas. Veja abaixo:
