Nunca vou esquecer minha primeira experiência dirigindo um automóvel sozinho, sem que alguém estivesse sentado no lugar do passageiro a meu lado. Eu estava trabalhando no turno da noite como controlador de estoque numa mercearia cerca de seis quilômetros distante de minha casa e meus pais permitiram que eu dirigisse um dos carros da família sozinho.
Eu tinha recebido um excelente treinamento de direção, tanto na minha escola de segundo grau quanto de meu pai e meu tio no Texas, onde eu passara cerca de seis semanas no verão anterior. Eu compartilho esta história porque às vezes a vida é assim.
