Lutando Contra as Sombras do Cotidiano

Como agente de seguros, lido com a morte mais vezes do que a maioria das pessoas. No auge da COVID-19, quatro de meus clientes sucumbiram ao vírus e doze outros morreram de vários outros males.  Alguns morreram de forma inesperada, enquanto outros sofreram de enfermidades prolongadas.

Nunca é fácil deparar-se com as sombras ameaçadoras da morte. Uma passagem da Bíblia comumente usada em cultos memoriais é Salmos 23, um salmo de Davi. Memorizei aqueles seis versículos primeiramente quando era rapaz e os tenho achado maravilhosamente encorajadores ao longo dos últimos 68 anos quando enfrentei adversidades – especialmente quando confrontado com o “vale da sombra da morte” descrito no quarto versículo do curto salmo. 

Eis aqui o versículo completo: “Ainda que eu ande pelo vale da sombra da morte, não temerei mal nenhum, porque Tu estás comigo; o Teu bordão e o Teu cajado me consolam.” Este salmo apresenta o Bom Pastor, Jesus, que não vai permitir que aquelas ovelhas que O seguem sejam prejudicadas por Satanás, o Maligno. 

Nós, que seguimos a Jesus Cristo, temos a segurança de que “a sombra da morte” é apenas isso: meramente uma sombra. Quando garoto, eu geralmente tinha medo das sombras, mas superei o meu medo tomando consciência de que as sombras não podem nos causar dano – sombras são inofensivas. Isto é verdadeiro para o mercado de trabalho, da mesma forma que é verdadeiro para qualquer outra área da vida. 

Sombras são nada mais do que a ausência de luz. Eis o que o apóstolo João afirma em João 1:1-5: “No princípio era Aquele que é a Palavra. Ele estava com Deus, e era Deus. Ele estava com Deus no princípio. Todas as coisas foram feitas por intermédio dEle; sem Ele, nada do que existe teria sido feito. Nele estava a vida, e esta era a luz dos homens. A luz brilha nas trevas, e as trevas não a derrotaram.”

Tem existido trevas no mundo desde que Adão e Eva comeram do fruto proibido no Jardim do Éden. As trevas permanecerão até que Jesus retorne triunfantemente. Enquanto isso, nós enfrentaremos certas sombras que se infiltram em nossa vida. Mas não há razão para temermos as trevas que elas parecem criar. Eu enfrentei momentos extremamente cheios de trevas em meu passado, mas jamais perdi a certeza de que Deus cuidava de mim por todo o vale da sombra da morte que atravessei. Talvez você se identifique com isso por causa de suas próprias experiências. 

Nosso inimigo espiritual tentará muitas maneiras de fazer com que percamos a esperança. Entretanto, de certa forma, aqueles momentos de trevas se tornam um teste e uma oportunidade para ficarmos mais próximos a Deus e Sua Luz, o que irá certamente remover todas as trevas. Como Tiago 1:2-3 nos instiga a fazer: “Meus irmãos, considerem motivo de grande alegria o fato de passarem por diversas provações, pois vocês sabem que a prova da sua fé produz perseverança.” 

Algumas pessoas permanecem em trevas constantemente, enquanto lutam contra pecados e vícios que os controlam. A maioria de nós, entretanto, somente ocasionalmente experimentam momentos de trevas. Mas mesmo breves momentos agoniantes de trevas podem nos fazer sentir como se tivéssemos perdido toda esperança. O versículo final de Salmos 23 diz: “Sei que a bondade e a fidelidade me acompanharão todos os dias da minha vida, e voltarei à casa do Senhor enquanto eu viver.” Foram necessários 40 anos para que eu compreendesse onde Deus queria que eu estivesse. Agora, eu alegremente proclamo que minha intenção é permanecer em Seus eternos e protetores braços pelo resto de minha vida nesta terra.

Se você deseja permanecer na luz, você também precisa receber Jesus em seu coração e pedir a Ele que o renove totalmente, transformando-o em um filho de Deus especial – levando você das trevas para a luz.
