Pesquisadores da Escola de Medicina Icahn da Univerisidade Monte Sinai, nos Estados Unidos, descobriram que o Apple Watch pode detectar pequenas mudanças no batimento cardíaco do usuário cerca de uma semana antes do indivíduo se sentir doente.
O estudo, batizado de “Warrior Watch”, acompanhou um grupo de 297 profissionais de saúde entre 29 de abril e 29 de setembro. Os participantes usaram Apple Watches equipados com aplicativos especiais que mediam as mudanças na variabilidade da frequência cardíaca (VFC).
“O relógio mostrou mudanças significativas nas métricas VFC até sete dias antes dos indivíduos desenvolverem sinais nasais que podem confirmar a infecção pela Covid-19”, disse Robert P. Hirten, autor do estudo.
Em uma outra pesquisa, bastante semelhante, feita pela Universidade Stanford, os participantes usaram uma variedade de smartwatches do tipo (Garmin, Fitbit e Apple).
