Natal – A Celebração Que Não Pode Ser Cancelada

Que ano tem sido este! As notícias do Corona Vírus/COVID-19 não têm dado tréguas e o impacto da pandemia global tem sido diferente de qualquer coisa já vista. Ela se tornou tão grave que os mais destacados líderes nacionais emitiram alertas quanto à necessidade de “cancelar o Natal”. Tudo em nome de “deter a propagação”. Rupturas nas cadeias de suprimento para o transporte de mercadorias de uma região da nação para outra criaram grandes preocupações com relação a produtos para presentes e as celebrações da estação poderiam não ser possíveis.  

Isso remete ao clássico livro do Dr. Seuss, Como o Grinch Roubou o Natal. A pergunta é: pode o Natal realmente ser cancelado? Pode alguém “roubar” o Natal, não importa quais sejam as motivações ou intenções? A resposta, eu acredito, é que tudo depende de a qual Natal estamos nos referindo.  

Se for ao Natal pelo qual os varejistas esperam o ano inteiro – aquele que vai determinar majoritariamente se os negócios encerrarão o ano civil “no preto” ou “no vermelho” – então, é possível. O texto conta como anjos proclamaram o extraordinário e santo nascimento a uma audiência improvável, pastores modestos, as primeiras testemunhas oculares do Cristo Criança.  

Encontramos um relato similar em outro Evangelho, começando em Mateus 1:18 e continuando pelo capítulo 2, verso 23. Ele fala sobre Aquele a quem se refere como Emanuel, que significa “Deus Conosco”. Nesse relato encontramos um grupo de Magos, homens sábios que viajaram de grandes distâncias para ver o cumprimento de uma antiga profecia, e um mau rei, Herodes, que temia que aquela criança pudesse um dia depô-lo de seu trono.  

Porém, as palavras mais cativantes acerca da encarnação de Jesus Cristo são encontradas no capítulo de abertura do Evangelho de João: “No princípio, era Aquele que é a Palavra. Ele estava com Deus, e era Deus. Ele estava com Deus no princípio…Nele estava a vida, e esta era a luz dos homens. A luz brilha nas trevas, e as trevas não a derrotaram.” (João 1:1-5).  

Esta declaração permanece tão verdadeira hoje como o era então. Durante essa época festiva frequentemente ouvimos as pessoas – de pregadores a comentaristas, passando por políticos e celebridades de entretenimento – ponderando e oferecendo todo o tipo de opiniões sobre “o verdadeiro sentido do Natal”. Entretanto, se cremos nos relatos citados acima, e outras passagens das Escrituras, o verdadeiro significado do Natal não é uma questão de múltipla escolha ou preferência. É simples, embora profundo: Deus Se tornou homem, assumindo a forma humana para vencer o único problema para o qual não existe cura humana – o problema do pecado.  

Como João 1:14 declara: “Aquele que é a Palavra tornou-Se carne e viveu entre nós. Vimos a Sua glória, glória como do Unigênito vindo do Pai, cheio de graça e de verdade.”  O resultado foi o maior presente de todos: “Contudo, aos que O receberam, aos que creram em Seu nome, deu-lhes o direito de se tornarem filhos de Deus.” (João 1:12).
